When God instituted marriage in the garden He didn't simply join the man and woman together, pronounce "Live happily ever after" and then leave them to fend for themselves. Instead of abandoning them, He gave them, and us, guidelines and responsibilities to help make the relationship work and to enable us to impact the world as a couple.

Throughout the Scriptures God gives us commands to be carried out and principles to be followed as we fulfill our roles as husbands and wives, as mothers and fathers.

Living "happily ever after" is possible, but not apart from assuming responsibility and following the guidelines and principles God gave us. God designed marriage. He knows how it works.
